MAC-adres.bat - own MAC address for the 7020 (PE1PzN, 4 November 2026)
=======================================================================

Why?
The MAC address is stored in the u-boot settings of the 7020
(ethaddr=00:0a:35:00:01:22). That is the example address from the Analog
Devices software. 00:0a:35 is the Xilinx block.
The makers of these boards put the same software with the same settings on
every board. That gives every board the same address. A real manufacturer
gives each device its own address, but that step was skipped here.
With one 7020 you will not notice this. With two on the same network, only
one of them gets a network connection.

What it does:
- It gives this 7020 its own MAC address: 02:0a:35 and three random numbers.
The address then belongs to the board, with every program and every
  SD card.
- Only that one u-boot setting (ethaddr) changes. Nothing else.
- You first see the old and the new address and choose j (yes) or n (no)
  yourself.
- Undo: start it again and choose 2 = back to the standard address.

How to use it:
1. Switch on only ONE 7020 on the network: the 7020 you want to change.
2. Start MAC-adres.bat and type the IP address (or pluto.local).
3. Choose 1 (own address) and then j (yes).
4. The 7020 restarts. The program finds it again and shows the new IP
address. Your router will probably give it a different IP address with
the new MAC address. If the program does not find it, look in your router
   for the new MAC address.
5. Do not switch the 7020 off while it saves.
Do this for every 7020 you use on the same network.
(The program itself speaks Dutch: j = yes, n = no.)

Questions
---------
How do I find the new IP address afterwards?
The program shows it at the end, for example:
    KLAAR. De 7020 heeft nu MAC-adres 02:0a:35:5a:83:14
    en is bereikbaar op 192.168.0.164
(KLAAR = done; "is bereikbaar op" = can be reached at.)
Always fine as well: http://pluto.local:8080/ in the browser (works
whatever the IP address is), or the device list in your router (search
  for the new MAC address).

How does the program find the 7020 again?
It does not search the whole network. The 7020 announces itself on the
network as "pluto.local" and Windows picks that up. The program asks for
pluto.local and checks that the MAC address is right.
That is why only ONE 7020 may be switched on while you change it: they
  are all called pluto.

Can it be undone?
Yes. Start MAC-adres.bat again and choose 2 = back to the standard
address. After that your router will usually give it its old IP address
  again.

Why not a separate address per program?
Two boards with the same program would still have the same address. The
  address belongs to the board.

Works from a Windows PC (Windows 10 or 11, using the ssh and scp that come
with Windows).
Logging in is automatic with root / analog. Different password? Change it at
the top of MAC-adres.bat.
